GRAND DESIGNS ‘CAMBRIDGESHIRE’

In 2004 Kelly Neville set about, literally, self building not just a stunning eco home but a whole new sustainable life for his family in the Cambridgeshire fens. The complex hexagonal oak frame and straw bale house is built around an 800 year old oak tree trunk that Kelly wants to carve into a spiral staircase.

But this project soon turns into a journey of Herculean scale when Kelly has to lift the oak beams, weighing half a ton each, into position himself using only a simple pulley and  car jack.
Can Kelly really build his  dream house and new life single handed?
